My friends and I attempting to make music:
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - The Finger
This song was played on the guitar, only using my middle finger. I recorded it for my YouTube channel's trailer.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - my Idol is Idle in an Idyll
It is hard to disconnect our self worth from our productivity, but we have other qualities. I really tried to keep the song peaceful, but I couldn't hold myself back with the piano. Also, first time I am playing bass on a track and used noise (rain) as a transition.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - Melting Cheese in the Toaster for Christmas
Given the lack of variety of Christmas songs, almost any song with a bell will qualify to avoid too much repitition on the radio, unfortunately songs with bells are also very rare.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - Out of London and into the Chiltern Hills
Recently moved out of London and into the Chiltern Hills. I have really been enjoying the walks, while listening to Petey.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - Take Off
Wrote my own song, but replicated a Blink 182 sound using Travis Barker's Splice Pack and an adjusted Amplitube 4 preset for Enema of the State's guitar.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - Tribute to Kingdom Game
Kingdom Game has a sound track that I love. I tried to reproduce the style by playing around for an hour with Ableton Live 9's Random and Scale tools. Here is the Ableton Live Project
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - Learning Sonic Pi
Sonic Pi is a very easy way to start coding some music. I did the great tutorial for an hour (up to chapter 4) and got stuck creating this song with loads of randomness for about another hour. Here is the Sonic Pi Source Code
Fannypack Fantasies - First Try
Me and my wife trying out her first bass guitar.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - The Leftovers
Based on the theme song of The Leftovers
Frail Care Unit - Chloroform Dreamer
Me and my brother in law finally making a song.
Post Post - Consider this Moment
So chill that my thoughts are actually free to wander.
Post Post - Repercussions are Therapeutic
Starts out as a headache, but productive hours are ahead.
om te neurie - jou opgediep golwende tee-gelowige
A voice, a guitar and all the other instruments are sounds we sampled from the room.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - Fluffy G
When you are too emotional to code sometimes it helps to record a song.
om te neurie - Umfazi Nentaka Yehlathi
A Xhosa story about a woman who gets eaten by a bird.
Francois Strydom came in with a song that sounded great on the acoustic guitar. I forced him to play it on an electric guitar and really struggled to get the mix right. The drums sound like Box Car Racer. It is version 2, since the mix in version 1 is even worse.
om te neurie - Verlaten Forten
A Dutch poem with some music. Part 1 of 2 Part 2 of 2
Post Post - Pianos were made for Percussion
This song has got my brain firing on all cylinders. Do you remember when all the cool kids wanted to play piano?
Android killed the Litchi - Tribute to Mark Knopfler
Here we are attempting something in the style of Brothers in arms by Mark Knopfler.
We have a 10 bar chord progression which is something like: C - C - A - F - C - C - A - F - F - F
I thought this chord progression might make it hard to realise that it is repeating and give a more continious feel to the song.om te neurie - Ritteltit se assegaaie
A short story in Afrikaans with some music. This short story was translated by my friend.
Be advised the 5 bar chord progression, some extra creepy sounds and an extra fast shaker keeps things trippy. Oh yeah and beware the shred.
om te neurie - Ars Poetica (Belydenis)
Another Afrikaans poem with some music. This poem, Ars Poetica (Belydenis), was written by my friend
Interestingly a midi bass with distortion, playing very short notes, sounds a lot like an 8-bit instrument. This song makes us think of playing quake multiplayer.
om te neurie - gedagtig aan my krioelende dood
Our first recording of an Afrikaans poem with some music. This poem, Gedagtig aan my Krioelende dood, was written by my friend.
Android killed the Litchi - Tribute to Funk
Here we are attempting to make a song in the style of funk. "You ever drunk baileys from a shoe?" - Old Gregg
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - In celebration of proposal
This song I composed for after my proposal to my wife. She liked it so much she used it as her wedding march.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - In anticipation of proposal
This song was playing just before my proposal to my wife. I took two days off from work, so I could compose this song and the following song "In celebration of proposal" in secret.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - Lets see what this software can do
This was just me playing around with some Ableton Live for the first time.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - Nine Nine Nine
This song was inspired by a T shirt: "999 Evil when I do handstands" The idea is that there are nine bars of music, of which the chord progression should repeat nine times. Currently the song is still too short. Maybe one day I'll finish it.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - DanceCore 83
I convinced my girlfriend to make some sounds over the mic. She was really shy so I have to edit them until she could not recognize herself.
Few and Far Between - Beat of Broken Hearts
I hear my thoughts calling out to yours again let me in, let me see, what you dream
the silence marches on, to the beat of broken hearts a quite smile hides, the truth of the thoughts you keep inside eyes light up to hear, when words are said though incinscere the silence marches on, and the silent walk alone
I never seem to know, of how much ive seen is what youve shown sleepless nights weave truths, and dreams tell me what you wanted to
Few and Far Between - Hardcore
We wrote this song in 2005 with some heavy Muse influences. My then roommate wrote the drums. In 2012 we decided to record it just for fun. The drums are still my old roommate's midi drums just with some reverb.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - Blinker
I don't really think I can sing. I don't really think I can write lyrics either. This is one of the few songs that I actually composed before I started recording it.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - Listening to Myself
Playing another note on the previously delayed note can have quite an interesting effect. I think I should have made the delayed note a little louder.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - I hate things song except that part where
I was trying to make something against my natural instincts and tastes. I ended up with something I did not like and was about to throw it away. My girlfriend convinced me to keep it and to her credit, it grew on me.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - Secret (Version 2)
Few and Far Between - Your Faults Are My Own
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - Thank You Ramfest 2011 (version 2)
This is just an updated version of Thank you Ramfest 2011. I can't decide which one I prefer.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - Space Cowboy
In 2011 my friend came over and we wrote and recorded a new song in 24 hours. This was when I realized that making a song in day is a great way to make music. He taught me a lot in that day about how to use a digital audio workstation. I just played some of the guitar and watched him work his magic.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - Thank You Ramfest 2011
I really enjoyed Ramfest 2011. This is a Thank you to everyone who made it possible. I remember lying in my tent and not being able to go to sleep, because dubstep was playing until 7 am. This was not a problem, I actually rather enjoyed it.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - Stargazer (version 2)
This is the first song I recorded for my girlfriend. This was one of her favourite songs, that I used to play over and over on the guitar.
Zero or One I'm Bad at Counting - Ringtone for a Hero
This is the first song I made using my Eleven Rack and Pro Tools 8 LE. The idea was that it should sound like intro music for an action series.
This is first song we recorded. We did not have any real recording equipment. Except for a microphone, guitar pedal and normal pc sound card.
I can hear your call, it echoes through the halls The slightest hint of sound, seeping through the walls More than I can know, this message from below Now silent was a voice, I heard but not by choice It's clear to me now, there's some-one else around I prove that I alive, by calling to you now I've heard this before, an echo of whats no more It's my own voice I hear, soon to disapear
You leave me dying here, as I'm bleeding on the floor And I just have to ask, was it me you were looking for I hear you crying from the dark, I try find what keeps us apart, Your voice is starting to disapear, please take me away from here
You left me hear, with the quite fear, that there's something left unknown I could see the signs in your quite eyes, hoping for something more As you walk away with a final tear, cause theres no words left to say I'm left hear with one last beat, of what once was a broken heart
I hear you crying from the dark, I try find what keeps us apart, Your voice is starting to disapear, please take me away from here You leave me dying here, as I'm bleeding on the floor And I just have to ask, was it me you were looking for
Post Rock is our goal. Eduard Burger, and I try to write, record and complete a song in 4 to 5 hours. Post Rock is an instrumental style of music, examples of bands include: God is an Astronaut and Maybe She Will. Whenever you hear any shredding, that is not me playing the guitar, that is my Eduard. Our music is also available on most music streaming services, like Spotify and Youtube.
Andre Muller, reads poems and short stories, most of which are written by him. I make the music with some creative input from him. Most the poems are Afrikaans, but he is not limited to just one language. We typically record and make the music in 4 to 5 hours. Ek dink ons kry 'n redelike unieke resultaat.
This project includes me and Anton Hendriks who writes the lyrics, sings the songs and plays the bass. We have also had several other temporary members, since 2007. Our music is also available on most music streaming services, like Spotify.
Andre Young, who also plays guitar, and I meet up on a Saturday or Sunday and attempt to write, record and finish a song on the day. We choose a genre or a band from the 1960s - 1990s, which has some guitar, and try to write a new song in that style. This typically takes about 5 hours.
Karel Schmidt and I wrote about 5 songs in 2008 on which we recorded nothing. This was about a superhero who did not need to eat anything and had unlimited energy. He was totally independant, but he also did not have any bad guys to fight.
My personal project, since 2011.
